Advance bookings for *Jailer 2*—the upcoming mega-budget action entertainer starring South Indian superstar Rajinikanth—have already created a storm at the box office ahead of its release. Within just a few hours of the booking window opening, over 38,000 tickets were sold. Trade analysts are astonished by the advance booking figures for this sequel, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar; there is a massive scramble for tickets across multiplexes and single-screen theaters throughout South India, including Tamil Nadu. Following this explosive start, speculation is rife within the film industry as to whether Rajinikanth’s magic will shatter the all-time advance booking records held by Vijay’s previous highest-grossing film, *Jana Nayagan*.
Previously, the record for the highest advance bookings in the history of Tamil cinema was held by Vijay’s film *Jana Nayagan*. However, given the immense excitement among fans regarding Rajinikanth’s return as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, trade experts believe that ‘Jailer 2‘ could shatter all previous benchmarks for opening-day ticket sales. In overseas markets—specifically the US, the UK, and the Gulf countries—pre-bookings for the film have also reached historic levels.
